There's an old African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I've believed it for as long as I can remember. Long before I knew peer groups existed, I was dreaming about a network of leaders working side by side to get better.
For more than 26 years, I've helped organizations sell and scale. I've worked with teams at the Calgary Flames, Cirque du Soleil, RBC, Rogers, the Calgary Stampede and dozens of owner-run businesses. I've also built companies myself, and I know what it costs to carry a business alone.
Here's what I've seen, over and over. Talented people spend ten years figuring out something that could take one. Great ideas never get started, not for lack of ability but for lack of one missing piece, or a little courage. And so many leaders feel alone when they don't have to be.
Courage is contagious. When you stand shoulder to shoulder with people who've been where you are, you see what you couldn't see alone, and you do what you've been putting off.
That's why SUN Circles exists. SUN stands for Stand Up Now. It means becoming who you're capable of being, building what you're capable of building, and changing your corner of the world as much as you can. Not someday. Now.
